Here we feature individual pets that were rescued and adopted from Puppy Hill Farm

LandisHi there. I just wanted to share with you what a joy Puppy Hill Animal Farm has brought to my life. I adopted Landis in December of 2000. She was a scraggly, worm and mite infested 10 month old shepard/golden/chow mix that Puppy Hill rescued from a nearby landfill and dubbed "Landis." Landis had obviously been abused. She cringed away from almost everyone, especially men. In the first six months I had her, she found my hidden stash of girl scout cookies and ate 4 boxes, tore apart several books that had apparently taken up too much of my time, and managed to find some dead fish my brother's in-laws had planted in their garden which she rolled in the night I graduated from law school. She awakened me at 4:00 in the morning nuzzling me with the reek of dead fish, which did not leave her even after several baths.
Landis has been with me for 9 years now. She is gray in the muzzle and has arthritis in her hips. But every day she gives me a reason to smile. When she sees me getting ready for our morning walk, she will find a toy and throw it to herself, then tackle it for a satisfying "squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak" while I put on my shoes. (This is also a fun game when I am on the phone.)
She is the most gentle, loving, sweet natured dog I have met. I feel blessed every day to have found her through Puppy Hill. You do amazing work. Thank you so much. Katie M. |
